We’re looking for 5 adults to lead 32 Explorers from across West Mercia on an adventure to Iceland from 8th-15th August 2021.
Gear up for an adventure that’ll take you off the beaten track and into the untouched wilderness of Iceland. We’ll be camping for 5 nights and in a hostel near Reykjavík for the other 2 nights of the trip.
We’ll be spending a day on a Golden Circle Tour which features a landscape of waterfalls, geysers, hot-springs and geological phenomena. A day of learning the basics of paddling and then heading out on a kayak or canoe to one of the islands on Lake Úlfljótsvatn. We’ll also spend a day on a great hike into the mountains (12 miles so you’ll need to be physically fit and have mountain experience if possible), including the chance to bathe in a natural hot river. We’ll also be Whale Watching in the Bay of Faxaflói and visiting the capital Reykjavik and going on a Glacier Exploration, experiencing water cauldrons, waterways and other ice features.
It will cost no more than £1650 which should mostly be achieved by fundraising efforts with support from the unit.
Adults apply through the application form via the link below by Wednesday 11th September at 23:59. Selection for 5 adults will occur on Saturday 28th September.
32 young people will be selected on Saturday 11th January 2020. We will hold a information evening on Thursday 5th December. Keep an eye out for when young people applications open!
