Following Marks kind words, I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your supportive and welcoming messages – they’re all much appreciated! I’m so excited to finally share the news with you and can’t wait to begin my journey with such a wonderful County team as County Youth Commissioner.
Over the next three years I hope to act as a catalyst for engaging young people in decision making and championing their voices within the County. Whether this be through representing young people at executive committee meetings, helping to run youth forums to foster youth-led change or inspire young people to peruse leadership roles and take control of their own adventures!
West Mercia County is already making fantastic progress with ‘Youth Shaped’ Scouting, and has taken great strides in achieving the 2018 strategic goals in this area. I hope, with the support of an inspiring County team and in partnership with our outstanding network of adult volunteers, I can continue to build on some of the awesome efforts that have already been made!
I hope to get out to as many events and Groups as possible over the coming months, to introduce myself and see some of the excellent work Districts are doing in empowering and engaging youth members, as well as support those who are in the process of augmenting such change.
I look forward to meeting and working with you all soon.
County Youth Commissioner – West Mercia Scout County
I am delighted to announce that following a successful conclusion to the West Mercia Scout County Youth Commissioner Search Process over the last couple of months, I have today appointed a new County Youth Commissioner.
Leanne Marlow is well known to many of you in a number of capacities, as Scout Leader at 1st Bradley in Wolverhampton East and also part of Team International for The Scout Association.
Leanne’s new role as County Youth Commissioner will commence immediately for the next 3 years.
Leanne brings a wealth of knowledge and experience at all levels and I am really looking forward to working closely with her as she embraces this new challenge. I know Leanne will 'give it her all' to lead West Mercia’s Youth Team through all of the opportunities and more, helping us achieve our targets for vision 2018 and beyond by developing and promoting youth shaped Scouting right across the County.
Please join me in welcoming Leanne to her new role and exciting new challenges. I ask you all to support Leanne as she embarks on her new volunteering chapter.
